This is a one-of-a-kind, handmade, ceramic necklace made by L.A.-based artist kate lain. The pendant is made out of unglazed dark clay and has a small window cut into it that is approximately the size of a 16mm film frame. The brown leather cord has an adjustable knot so you can vary the length. The metal jump ring may contain nickel.

Pendant is approximately 1 1/4" x 3/4"
Window size is approximately 1/2" x 3/8"
Cord is approximately 24" at its longest

The artists initials are carved lightly into the back of the pendant.

kate lain is a Los Angeles–area multidisciplinary artist working in film, video, clay, and other media.

In her varied works, she plays with material, texture, traces, and movement and is interested in ways people understand and interact with nature. Her preoccupations include family, memory, gender, land, texture, color, and place. She is drawn to places where structures and materials break down.

She approaches her various practices as collaborations—with material properties, with objects, with sites, with natural and chemical processes, with weather and other conditions, with the elements of chance that arise from all of these. Intention and discovery are equally important to her process.

Colors may look a bit different in person due to lighting and computer/phone screen color variations.
